Beware the military industrial complex. Be aware of companies that make huge profits from military contracts and have an unstated conflict of interest when their news outlet does their military reporting. Remember that Hitler's fascism was supported by major corporations of the day. And support by no means limited to Bayer, who made the gas used on the front and in deathcamps, and IBM, who's special-ordered machines streamlined the efficiency of mass murder. In a world of labor strikes and market uncertainty, the stability of a strong man government becomes very attractive. Be wary of war, which is not the health of the state. Beware the military industrial complex.
(oh yeah, I'm a history fan and poli-sci nerd. I'd include economics and theology, but that's a slippery slope which ends with me claiming to be a "social sciences" nerd, which is way too broad. So, I'm just a poli-sci and sci-fi nerd.)
